-As doctors are not sure what causes trigeminal neuralgia, there are no specific tests for trigeminal neuralgia.
However, trigeminal neuralgia symptoms are very specific and is easily disgnosed.
By eliminating other possible problems that could cause similar facial pain such as the jaw, teeth head or sinuses, trigeminal neuralgia can be detected.
